Floatation (song)

"Floatation" is the third single by English electronic artists The Grid, which was released in 1990 on EastWest Records UK. It was released on 7" and 12" vinyl, and as a CD Maxi single. Written and produced by The Grid, it featured vocals by Sacha Souter. New mixes of "Floatation" by The Grid, Prins Thomas, Round Table Knights and Slof Man were released on New State in September 2010.

Although they have the same running time, the "LP Version" and "Original Studio Version" are different. The 7" version is an edit of the latter, though it is usually the "Subsonic Grid Mix" - which has a similar arrangement but is extended and contains additional overdubs - which appears on compilations.

The "Sonic Swing Mix" contains a sample of the guitar intro to "Waterfall" by The Stone Roses. The "Progressive Mix" contains numerous samples, most prominently the bassline from Omar's "There's Nothing Like This".
